Fully integrated film and bags manufacturer Primary Packaging has strengthened its portfolio with the purchase of tamper evident security bags manufacturer Packaging Horizons.

Founded in 1974 as a manufacturer of polyethylene bags, Packaging Horizons specialises in multi-process converter manufacturing with a focus on tamper evident security packaging as well as Alert Security Bags.

Additionally, the company prints a variety of security overwrap films for various markets including pharmaceutical, medical, and food packaging.

Primary Packaging president Jeff Thrams said: “The tamper evident technology developed by Packaging Horizons is exceptional, and our manufacturing capabilities will infuse additional efficiencies into this niche business.

“This addition was the perfect complement to our current operations and our talented team will bring additional operational excellence and creativity to identify new opportunities for growth.”

Primary Packaging, which has expertise in polyethylene extrusion and film production, will expand its product offering of polyethylene bags through this acquisition.

Packaging Horizons will bring additional plastic packaging product lines to the company’s existing plastic extrusion facility.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Bolivar, Ohio, Primary Packaging is a subsidiary of Field Packaging Solutions, a company focused on acquiring, investing and operating small to medium-sized manufacturing businesses in packaging industry.
