Flexible packaging company ProAmpac has partnered with mineral salts expert Westlab to launch a new stand-up, sustainable pouch for premium bathing salts.
The new pouch features a recyclable zipper closure and HD flexographic printing to provide clear messaging and branding.
In addition to being recyclable, the new pouch leverages nearly 10% less packaging material when compared with the non-recyclable version.
ProAmpac product development manager Manuel Jaggi said: “A key challenge ProAmpac faced when developing this recyclable, foil-free pouch was to deliver superior toughness and drop resistance for 1kg of salt product inside while using less material.”
“R-1050 not only delivers the durability required, but it also provides high heat resistance, which maintains filling machine efficiency. In addition, its high surface gloss gives the packaging a pop-off-the-shelf appeal.”
Westlab uses ProActive Recyclable R-1050 film, which is part of ProAmpac’s ProActive Sustainability product offerings for the bathing salts. It is the first time the film is used in commercial packaging.
