PRPflexo, the US-based flexographic printing plate provider, has developed a new printing plate for multiple line-up one- and two-colour corrugated shipping containers.

The company said the applied flat-top dot plate technology creates a ‘Value In-Position environmentally Responsible’ (VIPeR) plate, specifically engineered to address sustainability issues in packaging.

The plate has been designed with a 70% weight reduction, uses 80% less energy during the manufacturing process and has 50% reclaim and reuse value, with respect to the overall production process.

The lightweight plates are processed in environment-friendly soap and water instead of hydrocarbon solvents, which are used to produce sheet photopolymer.
