Beverage bottle manufacturer Refresco has confirmed an investment of $30.5m to expand its facility in Joplin, a city in south-west Missouri, US.

According to a Missourinet report, the company will add a new production line to increase the existing capacity of its distribution centre.

Associated work is expected to create 40 new jobs at the site, with an expected wage to be well above the county’s average.

For this expansion, Refresco is receiving assistance from the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s (DED) division, Missouri One Start.

As the state’s workforce recruitment and training division, Missouri One Start helps eligible businesses with their recruitment and training needs.

In a tweet, the Missouri DED said: “Refresco, a nationwide beverage bottling manufacturer, will expand in Joplin, investing $30.5m and creating 40 jobs.”

In addition, Refresco is set to benefit from the Missouri Works programme, a tool that provides access to capital for different companies via withholdings or tax credits to use for job creation and business expansion.

Missouri governor Mike Parson said: “Our state’s low costs, skilled workforce, and commitment to infrastructure are producing results, including in our south-west region. We look forward to this company’s continued success in Joplin and the benefits it will provide for Missourians in the area.”

Currently, Refresco has more than 70 production sites across Europe, North America, and Australia, KZRG reported.

The company produces a range of bottled beverage products, including water, soft drinks, fruit juices, energy drinks, and others.

Missouri DED acting director Michelle Hataway said: “Refresco’s growth in Joplin is creating opportunities that are helping Missourians prosper.

“This company’s decision to expand its existing location demonstrates our state’s ability to provide what businesses need to thrive. We appreciate all our partners who supported this project and helped bring additional investment and jobs to south-west Missouri.”
