Global consumer packaging company Rexam has announced plans to expand the current operations at its US production facility, Excelsior Springs in Missouri.
The company will expand the capacity by more than 50% to support growing customer demand for its products.
The facility is part of Rexam’s global plastics business, which operates more than 45 plants and produces injection moulded plastic packaging for major US personal care product brands.
It said that as part of the expansion, the facility will add moulding and assembly equipment to help further boost the triple-digit revenue increase attained over the last ten years. The facility serves the healthcare, food and personal care markets.
Julie Vergnion, Rexam personal are division category manager, said the expansion further demonstrates the company’s desire of supporting customer growth.
Rexam plant manager Marlon Pass said the facility supports its major customers who ship to the Midwestern US and the company’s culture of continuous improvement would continue to create growth opportunities for the personal care division.
Earlier in September, the company announced plans to invest £68m over the next three years to build a new beverage can plant in Mantsala, Finland. The two lines of the plant are expected to be operational by 2013 and 2014 respectively with an output capacity of 1.35 billion 330ml and 500ml aluminium cans.
Rexam’s first-half of 2011 underlying operating profit rose by 5% to £280m, and profit increased by 29% mainly due to the improved volumes in standard cans in Europe, as well as in specialty cans in all regions.
The company’s one-stop supplier approach to dispensing solutions helps shorten supply chains, reduce time-to-market, improve shelf appeal and an increased return on investment.
