Turkish packaging firm Sade Ofset Packaging & Label is using Prinect Production from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen as its central platform to digitally manage print production.

The platform links prepress, presswork, and production planning, while production and quality information is recorded automatically.

The company turned to Prinect after the Raster Image Processor (RIP) in its CtP system required modernisation and would have involved significant upgrade costs.

Heidelberg proposed a subscription arrangement, giving Sade Ofset access to the Prinect workflow. At that stage, the company used presses supplied by other manufacturers.

Sade Ofset owner and managing partner Murat Demir said: “At first, moving to Prinect seemed like a straightforward business decision to avoid high upgrade costs. Looking back, I can say that decision became an important strategic turning point for our company.

“Maintaining register accuracy on thin materials was a major challenge for us. With Prinect’s paper stretch compensation, we were able to manage this issue much more effectively.”

Sade Ofset prints packaging and labels on substrates weighing between 70 and 80 g/m².

The company later extended its use of Prinect to production planning, cost analysis, and production monitoring. This preceded a reduction in its press fleet.

Last year, Sade Ofset replaced two presses with one Speedmaster CX 104 from Heidelberg.

The press includes an inline colour and quality control system. It now handles volumes that had previously required two machines operating double shifts.

The company plans to connect Prinect more closely with its existing MIS system to raise the level of automation in production control.

Heidelberg Prinect head Jürgen Grimm said: “The Sade Ofset example shows that the digitalisation of production processes goes far beyond individual software functions. It is only through the intelligent networking of data, machines, and processes that the foundation for efficiency gains and economically successful production is created.”
