Switzerland-based smart packaging solutions company ScanTrust has introduced a new authentication solution for HP Indigo digital presses in an effort to assist brands and industrial companies in tracing counterfeit products.
ScanTrust will digitally print secure QR codes on HP Indigo presses, allowing customers to track and trace goods to combat counterfeiting as well as enable supply chain traceability.
The digitalisation solution also allows customers to print static or serialised secure QR codes on labels or packaging, which can be authenticated by scanning with a mobile app.
The solution integrates the secure graphic within the variable QR codes into the workflow of HP Indigo digital presses to easily integrate serialised secure codes onto labels or packaging.
Integration will help stakeholders across the supply chain to authenticate goods on the go.
ScanTrust CEO Nathan Anderson said: “Smart packaging solutions are being driven by the rising threat of product counterfeiting and the need for greater transparency across the supply chain.
“This new capability, together with HP Indigo, allows brands and industrial goods companies to leverage the full benefits of variable data printing for connected, customised and traceable products that encourage two-way communication with end-consumers based on trust, and ultimately leading to increased brand loyalty and growth.”
ScanTrust and HP Indigo established their partnership to deploy a seed product authentication and traceability solution for Swiss global agrochemical company Syngenta.
Both companies also worked with other brands such as Cambio Coffee, Vorsteiner, and Nexans to implement smart packaging solutions.
