US-based packaging firm Sealed Air has unveiled its new carton packaging solution, Stealthwrap.
Offering protection for primary package cartons during transition, Stealthwrap removes the need for additional shipping cartons and packing materials.
When used, the patented micro-layer, opaque cartooning solution shrinks and sticks to the dimensions of the product that has been packed in it.
Stealthwrap further obscures any markings or identification of the packed product and offers a strong, damage-resistant covering.
Planned to be distributed across North America by December, the solution will be available around the globe by the first quarter of next year.
Sealed Air product care division president Kenneth Chrisman said: “Consumers have become accustomed to receiving a box within a box within a box, and while the material waste and inefficiency of that kind of packaging method is evident, it has long been the only method available to provide adequate protection for the manufactured item in its original packaging.
“The high-performance capabilities of StealthWrap can truly eliminate a significant amount of corrugated cartons from the global supply chain, bringing unprecedented simplicity, sustainability, and cost-efficiency to retailers, large-scale fulfilment operations, and third-party logistics providers.”
Global transportation and supply chain solutions provider XPO Logistics will be the first company to deploy StealthWrap in various distribution centres where it fulfils and ships e-commerce orders for customers.
In March, Sealed Air launched a new version of its bubble wrap protective packaging solution, Bubble Wrap IB, across the globe.
Suitable for cushion packaging, the new Bubble Wrap IB would help companies, who want to improve their e-commerce and supply chain efficiency.
