Skymark to install new laminator at Scunthorpe facility in UK

UK-based Skymark intends to purchase a Nordmecanica Super Simplex solvent-less laminator for its manufacturing site in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

UK-based Skymark intends to purchase a Nordmecanica Super Simplex solvent-less laminator for its manufacturing site in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

Planned to be installed in November, the equipment is expected to increase the capacity of the flexible films manufacturer and help it to meet rising client demands for short run work.

The laminator enables the manufacturer to increase the barrier performance of the packs, which extends their shelf life and cuts down supply chain wastes.

As well as being compact, the new laminator can ensure high production and quality standards in the solventless field and improve operational flexibility at the production facility.

"We see the expansion of our lamination films range as a key area for growth going forward and this investment reflects our commitment to the market and to innovation."

Skymark technical director Paul Glover said: "The addition of this machine to our site in Scunthorpe will deliver greater operational flexibility and also release capacity from our Nordmecanica Super Combi 3000 lamination machines enabling us to deliver additional features for clients.

"We see the expansion of our lamination films range as a key area for growth going forward and this investment reflects our commitment to the market and to innovation.

"The Nordmecanica solution was chosen due to its competitiveness and delivery commitment; it also enables interchangeable parts with the rest of our current lamination machines which is critical when we're responding to our customers' needs on a 24 hour basis."

In 2013, Skymark invested in a cast Polypropylene line to produce film up to 2,800mm wide.
