StarPak to expand Houston facility with W&H machinery

US-based flexible packaging products manufacturer StarPak has announced plans to expand its facility in Houston, Texas, to support future growth.

US-based flexible packaging products manufacturer StarPak has announced plans to expand its facility in Houston, Texas, to support future growth.

The company will add 150,000ft² of manufacturing space for installing W&H machinery to expand the facility’s capacity.

The machinery includes a VISTAFLEX press and two MIRAFLEX II presses, as well as a VAREX II blown film line.

Currently operational, the 67in, ten-colour VISTAFLEX press has line speeds of up to 2,625ft/min.

VISTAFLEX helps accelerate production and can ready and store up to five more jobs even when the press is working.

The MIRAFLEX II presses are equipped with advanced automation for quick, waste-minimising setup and job changes.

The 52in, ten-colour presses will become operational later this year.

The VAREX II is a 134in, five-layer blown film extrusion line.

StarPak manufactures a wide range of printed films for various applications, including consumer and pet food bags and pouches, shrink overwrap, towel and tissue wrap, multipack bags, bakery bags and printed roll stock.

It is one of the five business entities of the Houston-based Five Star Family of Companies.

Five Star CEO Mike Ukropina said: “Our continued investment in capacity highlights StarPak’s commitment to supporting our customers’ growth today and in the years ahead.

“Expanding our capabilities with state-of-the-art presses, extrusion, and automation allows us to remain focused on industry-leading quality and innovation across all segments.”
