UK-based StePac has introduced its new Xgo line of fresh produce packaging range for the retail market.
A subsidiary of Johnson Matthey, the company has launched four packaging solutions under the new line, namely Xgo Lidding Film, Xgo Preformed Bags, Xgo Flow Pack and Xgo Standing Pouch.
Johnson Matthey technical development manager Gary Ward said: “We’re building on the latest developments in advanced Xtend modified atmosphere/modified humidity (MA/MH) technology and packaging design to help both retailers and international food brands to address growing consumer demands for premium quality packaged produce.”
Leveraging on MA/MH technology, the new packaging solutions extend the shelf life of fruits, vegetables and fresh herbs while improving the consumer experience.
The Xgo Lidding Film can be used to cover a wide range of produce packed in PET or PP trays.
Available in different vapour transmission rates, the flexible Xgo Preformed Bags provide optimal moisture control for a wide range of fresh produce.
The Xgo Flow Pack is also available in varying water vapour transmission rates and can be used as roll stock for automated retail packing processes.
Suitable for shelf displays at retail stores, the Xgo Standing Pouch is a Grab-N-Go retail packaging format that also offers extended shelf life, film clarity and condensation control.
StePac stated that all the packaging products have anti-fog properties and can be tailored to provide optimal atmosphere conditions to the fresh produce according to requirements.
The new products will be exhibited at Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Expo to be held in New Orleans, US, from 20 to 21 October.
