Finland-based Stora Enso has improved its Tambrite packaging carton board by reducing the basis weight to enhance its efficiency and environmental performance.
The company is confident that the weight reduction will not affect the product’s runnability, stiffness, print results and packaging performance.

This improved packaging board provides benefits in terms of savings in raw materials, less weight in storage and transportation, less packaging waste and fees, and a lower carbon footprint across the supply chain, said the company.
Stora Enso’s Tambrite carton boards, which are manufactured at the Ingerois Mill in Finland, are used in pharmaceutical, food, chocolate and confectionery packaging.
The Ingerois mill will now gradually produce new, lower grammage range of flexible Tambrite boards.
Stora Enso has also adopted new supply chain management system and sheeting service offerings for quick delivery of boards to customers.
