US-based company Straus Family Creamery has expanded its product line with the introduction of organic low-fat kefir packaged in the brand’s signature reusable glass bottles.  

This launch aligns with the company’s longstanding commitment to climate-resilient practices, sustainable organic farming, and zero-waste goals.  

The new kefir offering builds upon a tradition that began in 1994 when Straus first used reusable glass bottles for its milk and cream products. 

The organic kefir line is available in two flavours, Plain and Blueberry, and is packaged in reusable glass quarts made from abundant sand, soda ash, or limestone.  

Customers can return their rinsed bottles to retailers after use for a refund of a $3 glass deposit, promoting a circular economy in the process.  

Annually, Straus’ customers reportedly return more than 2.75 million bottles for reuse, supporting the company’s vision where every packaging material is reused, recycled, or composted.
