Zipper company Talon International has reached a strategic partnership with paper and packaging converter Seaman to adopt Vela, a paper material designed to replace plastic packaging.

This collaboration is seen as a significant step in Talon’s commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation.

It will see the company bringing sustainable packaging solutions to its customers.

Developed with the supply chain in mind, Vela bags are transparent paper bags that enable scanning by opening the packaging.

The bags feature full-width adhesive strips and concealed vent holes to make the packaging process efficient.

It also prevents garments and products from attracting dirt, dust, and moisture during transit.

Talon International CEO Larry Dyne said: “We are thrilled to partner with Vela and bring their innovative sustainable packaging solutions to our customers.

“This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainability and ongoing efforts to find and promote green products that make a difference. Together with Vela, we are setting a new standard for environmental responsibility in the industry by reducing plastic waste and contributing to a cleaner, greener planet.”

Seaman’s Vela bags are said to be kerbside recyclable and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified, which confirms that the paper used derives from responsibly managed forests.

As part of Seaman’s ‘Sea the Difference’ initiative, each purchase of Vela bags supports ocean research and conservation programmes.

Seaman chief strategy officer Dave Deger said: “We are excited to be collaborating with Talon on the inclusion of the paper-based Vela solution in their portfolio.

“The Vela offering and global manufacturing footprint, in conjunction with Talon’s global supply chain expertise represents a powerful combination and a ready-made solution for brands looking to advance their sustainability and packaging initiatives.”
