Luxembourg-based paper products / plastic film producer Technovaa Packaging, the industrial arm of Darvesh, has broken ground on a new manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi Ports Company's (ADPC) Kizad.
To be spread over an area of more than 35,000m², the proposed facility will see an investment of around AED250m ($68.05m).
The new facility is said to form a part of Darvesh's strategy to export 60% of its overall production volume from Kizad to European, Middle Eastern and African markets, in order to cater to local demand.
It will further support Technovaa Industries' other branches in Dubai and Ras Al Kho.
Darvesh chairman Hassan Suleman Darvesh said: "Kizad's highly competitive operating cost environment will provide us with an excellent business platform to further improve our full range of services and competitive pricing strategies, as well as our production and marketing capabilities."
ADPC CEO Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said: "Kizad's comprehensive intermodal transportation network and close proximity to Khalifa Port, with market access to more than 4.5 billion potential customers and business partners worldwide, will not only offer Technovaa Packaging enhanced supply chain efficiencies but guarantee smooth, time and cost-effective import and export activities."
Additionally, Technovaa Industries has industrial and consumable packaging manufacturing facilities in other parts of the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. The company employs biodegradable and recycling technology to produce eco-friendly products.
