Tekni-Plex has agreed to acquire cap and closure sealing materials producer Sancap Liner Technology for an undisclosed amount.
Based in Ohio, US, Sancap produces heat-seal, pressure-sensitive and gasket-sealing liners for pharmaceutical and food applications.
It also manufactures higher-barrier, Saran laminations and coated pouch / bag structures for food, liquor, confectionary and chemical applications.
Tekni-Plex senior vice-president David Andrulonis said: "Coupled with our existing strong technology base in foam liners, this will enable us to serve our global customers with an even broader product line."
Tekni-Plex expects the acquisition to expand its heat-seal liner production capability.
Andrulonis added: "Sancap’s 460,000ft² also provides a footprint from which to increase future manufacturing capacity.

On completion of the deal, Sancap will be the third liner business Tekni-Plex has acquired in the last 18 months.
Tekni-Plex acquired India-based Ghiya Extrusions, a supplier of EPE foam closure liners, as well as assets of Tech-Seal, a manufacturer of closure liners and inner seals for food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and industrial applications.
Tekni-Plex said the acquisition of Ghiya Extrusions complements its existing business in India and grows its closure liner business globally.
Last year, the company’s subsidiary Tri-Seal developed a new laminated aluminium foil / foam barrier liner for roll-on pilfer proof (ROPP) wine closures.
When used as an alternative to tin / saran liners commonly used for ROPP wine applications, the new Tri-Vin liners support wine ageing, while preserving the aroma and taste.
