Tetra Pak has introduced a 48oz (1,420ml) version of its Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge carton in the US and Canada.
Developed for the premium dairy market, the new size will also be used for juice, plant-based drinks and ready-to-drink coffee.

Manufactured at the company’s regional headquarters in Denton, Texas, the carton has a sloping top and a rectangular front panel.
Tetra Pak said the design’s features help products stand out in chilled retail displays and support a longer shelf life.
The pack is fitted with the LightWing 30 tethered cap, a hinged closure that can be opened in one step, closed again after use and stays connected to the carton.
According to the company, the carton also has broad front-facing panels and a tall profile, giving producers more room for product information and printed designs, including through Tetra Pak Custom Printing.
The base structure was developed to improve loading, pallet use and transport across the supply chain.
It is recyclable and made mainly from renewable materials, including paperboard sourced from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified forests and other controlled sources.
Tetra Pak US and Canada packaging portfolio vice-president Raghu Chakravarthi said: “The introduction of the 48oz Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge package meets the evolving needs of both customers and consumers.
“Its sleek design stands out on shelves while the improved functionality and efficient logistics of this package, when compared to competing refrigerated formats, make it a strong choice for those seeking premium beverage products.”
In April, Tetra Pak and Italian dairy producer Sterilgarda Alimenti introduced a 1l carton that uses a paper-based barrier, which has been added to the Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Edge format.
