SGB Packaging is TricorBraun's 11th acquisition in the past three years.

US-based primary packaging distributor TricorBraun has acquired SGB Packaging in an effort to expand its global supplier network.

Based in New Jersey, SGB Packaging specialises in supplying packaging for the cosmetics, fragrance, skin, hair and personal care and makeup industries.

The company claims to have strong European and other international supplier partnerships across prestige categories.

The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

TricorBraun president and CEO Court Carruthers said: “Our acquisition of SGB Packaging strengthens our presence in growing industries while serving customers with new products and expanding our vast global supplier network.

“Shoshana Gibli and her team have built an impressive business known for its outstanding customer service, industry expertise and diverse product offerings. We are excited to welcome them to [our] family.”

Once the deal is completed, TricorBraun will take on all SGB Packaging team members, including founder and president Shoshana Gibli and senior leaders Lauren and Julie Gibli.

SGB Packaging will trade as SGB Packaging, a TricorBraun company, continuing to operate from its existing location in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Shoshana Gibli said: “SGB Packaging has been a mainstay in cosmetics, fragrance, personal care and skin care packaging for a quarter of a century.

“We are excited to explore new growth opportunities with TricorBraun and we are thrilled to offer expanded services to customers, including TricorBraun’s custom design capabilities, helping to cement our business as a packaging one-stop shop.”

SGB Packaging is the 11th company to have been acquired by TricorBraun over the past three years.

The company claims that by partnering with management teams, it has enhanced the growth of more than 25 packaging companies across North America.

In March, the company acquired Canadian rigid packaging distributor RODA Packaging in an effort to boost its presence in Canada’s eastern region.
