RPC CEO Pim Vervaat said: "We are pleased to have completed the acquisition of GCS Group and look forward to welcoming our new colleagues into the RPC Group.

"The combination of RPC and GCS Group will further strengthen RPC's European platform in rigid plastic packaging with an extensive range of highly complementary closures and dispensing solutions."

The move follows the European commission's approval for the acquisition deal, which was announced last December.

"The combination of RPC and GCS Group will further strengthen RPC's European platform in rigid plastic packaging."

The acquisition is expected to enhance RPC's product offerings for rigid plastic packaging markets in the European market.

It will enable the company to deliver closure solutions along with its existing packaging product lines.

In a separate development, RPC has completed the acquisition of Central European plastic manufacturer JP Plast.

Vervaat was quoted by digitallook.com as saying: "The JP Plast acquisition meets all of the group's strict acquisition criteria and had sales of €13.5m during 2015 operating from two well-invested locations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia where it has market leading positions."

In 2015, the company acquired plastic products maker Promens Group, aiming to expand its European portfolio.
