UK-based grocery and general merchandise retailer Tesco has launched new chicken fillet packs across the country.
Developed by Cargill and Linpac, the fully sealed packaging will reduce food waste by keeping the product fresh for a longer period.
Designed for two chicken fillets, the new pack has separate compartments for each fillet, with a tear seal between the two.
The company plans to introduce the new pack to stores countrywide at no extra cost to customers.
Due to a recent Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) report, 1.9 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK grocery supply chain each year.
However, the WRAP report stated that only a small portion of the 1.9 million tonnes is wasted during retail operations.
