US-based Mac Papers has purchased Higdon Paper & Packaging, which is involved in paper and print, packaging, facilities supplies and office products distribution, for an undisclosed sum.

As part of the deal, three account managers, one inside sales representative and one driver / warehouseman from Higdon have joined Mac Papers’ branch located in Birmingham, Alabama, US.

The former owner of the company, Charlie Higdon, will also join Mac Papers as a packaging sales manager.

"We’re confident that our local inventories, customer service and supply chain management positions Mac Papers to provide top-notch, next-day delivery with competitive pricing."

Higdon’s facility will be closed down and the employees of the facility will be added to Mac Papers' Birmingham branch.

Mac Papers president Sutton McGehee said: “Not only does this latest acquisition reaffirm our commitment to the markets we serve in the state, but it also demonstrates the company’s dedication to offering a broad, diversified product line-up.

In December 2012, Mac Papers purchased All Packaging Supplies, a distributor of industrial and food service packaging supplies located in Pembroke Park, Florida.

The company also acquired two companies, including Orlando, a Florida-based Redd Paper Company with packaging and wide format printing divisions; and Greenville-based All Square Digital Solutions.
