Valmet has secured a contract to supply board-making technologies for Kraft of Asia Paperboard and Packaging’s new containerboard line in Phu My, Vietnam.

As part of the deal, Valmet will deliver three OptiFlo Foudrinier headboxes for profiles and good formation, as well as an OptiPress Linear press section to offer good end-product properties, high dewatering capacity and good runnability.

The company will also supply a start-up package of spare parts and consumables to the Vietnamese packaging firm.

Kraft of Asia Paperboard and Packaging was established by Marubeni to begin a containerboard manufacturing and packaging material sales business in Vietnam.

The new company will use the board production line (PM 1) to expand the containerboard business in the country.

Operations on PM 1 are expected to start during the second half of next year.

Kraft of Asia has also received permits to annually produce up to one million tonnes of containerboard.

“The new company will use the board production line (PM 1) to expand the containerboard business in the country.”

The company is planning to invest in three more board machines in the next ten years.

Valmet supplies process technologies, automation and services to customers in pulp, paper and energy industries. It offers pulp mills, tissue, board and paper production lines to its customers.

In August, Valmet received an order to supply an extensive paper machine grade conversion rebuild for graphic and speciality paper producer Burgo Group at its Verzuolo Mill in Italy.

The company also agreed to supply its high-speed containerboard-making line to an undisclosed customer in the Zhejiang province, China, during May last year.
