Flexible packaging firm Verso has expanded its GlazeArmor portfolio of lightweight uncoated machine-glazed papers with the addition of the new Natural Kraft (NK) oil and grease-resistant (OGR) paper options.
The GlazeArmor product family now includes machine-glazed bleached and natural kraft virgin fibre papers that can be used for OGR foodservice and microwave popcorn bag applications.
Verso graphic papers president Mike Weinhold said: “Foodservice packaging converters and end users are seeking natural kraft OGR paper options that offer the right combination of quality, performance and run-to-run consistency.
“Our GlazeArmor family of OGR papers excels in these critical areas and we will deliver these solutions with the same level of highly personalised customer service, experienced technical resources and overall attention to detail that customers have come to expect from Verso.”
The newly introduced GlazeArmor natural kraft options ‘GlazeArmor NK OGR’ and ‘GlazeArmor NK Micro’ feature OGR levels ranging from Kit 5 to Kit 12.
Both products are perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)-free and designed to work in extreme oil and grease end applications.
The OGR papers can be utilised for a variety of end-use applications, including sandwich and deli wraps, foodservice liners, microwave popcorn bags and laminated food pouches.
Verso speciality papers vice-president and general manager Ed Buehler said: “The No 5 paper machine at Verso’s Androscoggin Mill in Jay, Maine, has a long-standing reputation for producing oil and grease-resistant papers with outstanding quality and consistent performance.
“Our new GlazeArmor NK builds on this tradition, offering new options for demanding paper packaging applications.”
GlazeArmor NK OGR and GlazeArmor NK Micro are respectively offered in basis weights ranging from 18lb to 40lb and 20.5lb to 23lb.
