Australia-based Visy has entered a strategic partnership with Israel’s Water.IO with an aim to provide its smart packaging to Australia and New Zealand.
As part of the deal, Water.IO solutions will help Visy to supply advanced ‘intelligent packaging’ options to its customers operating in a range of sectors, including the beverage, pharma, and food industries, across the region.
The partnership will use Water.IO’s patented smart cap technology, which can convert any bottle into a smart bottle that provides consumers with personal reminders, such as when they need to take medication or hydrate.
Using the Water.IO technology, brands and manufacturers can directly access customer data and real-time analytics to develop personalise and convenient products.
Water.IO co-founder and executive VP YoavHoshen said: “Together, we look forward to setting a new standard for what’s possible through packaging. As the Internet of Things raises consumers’ expectations for products that anticipate their every need, Water.IO is leading the charge on doing this for consumer goods.
“For the first time, brands can gain critical first-hand insights on how their customers use their products and who they are.
“Through our technology expertise and Visy’s extensive production capabilities and global reach, we are excited about bringing the ‘smart packaging’ revolution – and the opportunity – to more and more markets worldwide.”
The company currently uses a combination of sensors, algorithms, cloud servers and mobile apps to provide a complete internet of things (IoT) platform for consumer packaged brands and pharmaceutical companies.
