German multinational technology company Voith Group has announced that it has been chosen to rebuild Enstra Paper’s existing PM 6 packaging paper machine.

A member of Corruseal Group, Enstra Paper specialises in converting paper into corrugated boxes.

Enstra’s PM 6 machine is installed at its manufacturing facility in Springs, near Johannesburg, South Africa.

Voith will carry out substantial rebuild work on Enstra’s paper machine, which underwent a transformation from packaging newsprint to papers in 2015.

This work includes fitting the machine with new technologies to make the paper production process more efficient and sustainable.

The machine’s forming section will be equipped with DuoFormer D and Voith’s DuoShake DG shaking unit to optimise sheet formation.

A compact DuoCentri NipcoFlex shoe press, within the press section, will be installed to ensure optimal dewatering along with reduced cost and energy consumption.

Corruseal Group joint CEO Rajiv Mehta said: “Enstra Paper’s new production line 6 will significantly improve our competitiveness, cost situation and product quality.”

Apart from rebuilding PM 6, Voith is also responsible for providing a new BlueLine OCC stock preparation line to Enstra.

The new production line is expected to commence operations by early 2025.

Once installed, the BlueLine is set to improve the operability, efficiency, and quality of recycled paper produced at Enstra.

Deployment of Voith’s proven BlueLine technology is also in line with Enstra’s broader objective to save resources, improve fibre yield, and become energy efficient.

Additional components to be installed by Voith at Enstra’s facility are IntensaPulper, IntensaMaXX for pulper cleaning, IntensaScreenDrum for reject washing, as well as other screening and fractionation products.

Voith is also making some modifications in its dryer section to improve paper quality and energy efficiency.

Voith Paper Spain managing director Marcos Garcia de la Torre said: “This order is further evidence of how we use our comprehensive expertise as a leading full-line supplier to help customers substantially improve the competitiveness of their existing process lines and take paper quality to a new level of sustainably and efficiently.”
