Aptar Beauty has widened its Advance Collection with the launch of Novus Advance, a cosmetic pump for hair and body care products made entirely from polyolefin materials.

The pump can enter polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene (PE) recycling streams when used with high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP) or PET bottles.

Novus Advance follows the earlier introduction of the GSA Advance dispensing pump and the PZ Advance spray pump.

Aptar Beauty launched the Advance range last year as an all-plastic pump line aimed at improving recyclability.

According to the company, the new pump uses a cartridge made from PP and PE.

When combined with an HDPE, PP or PET bottle, it is recyclable in the PET and PE streams.

The product also has a POM-free structure and can incorporate post-consumer recycled resin (PCR).

Aptar Beauty said the pump uses an outer bellow system positioned outside the dosage chamber.

This is intended to provide 350μl and 500μl doses with consistency across a range of products including oils, creams and serums.

The pump is designed to work with formulations from low to high viscosity, including products containing short-chain alkanes, across body, sun and hair care uses.

Novus Advance also includes a twist-to-lock system and does not require a cap.

Aptar Beauty said it passed in-house ISTA-6 testing for omnichannel packaging, including the demands of e-commerce shipping.
