Coveris’ Winsford site has secured the RecyClass Recycling Process Certificate and the RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certificate at Level 2.

The certifications are effective immediately and confirm that the site met all mandatory and optional audit criteria.

RecyClass, a cross-industry European initiative, states that the Recycling Process Certificate confirms that post-industrial and post-consumer plastic waste is processed into recycled material in a controlled and compliant way.

The Traceability Certificate verifies accurate tracking of recycled content from input to finished product and can only be issued when recycled inputs are certified through RecyClass or an equivalent scheme.

Both certifications align with EN 15343 and ISO 22095 and apply across the recycled plastics value chain.

Traceability approval supports compliance with the UK Plastic Packaging Tax, the forthcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), and requirements in several European markets.

The company is pursuing similar certification for additional sites in 2026 to meet customer demand for transparent recycling documentation.

Coveris Winsford managing director Sujoy Bose stated: “By achieving two Level 2 certifications from RecyClass, Coveris Winsford is strengthening its position as an industry leader producing high-performance, flexible plastic packaging with recycled content for the European market and beyond.

“These certifications confirm the integrity of our recycling and traceability processes and demonstrate our commitment to helping our customers meet their sustainability targets. They also underscore our dedication to delivering on Coveris’ No Waste strategy and closing the loop within plastic packaging.”

In a separate development, RecyClass recognised ELIX ABS HH 3110 from Elix Polymers as compatible with ABS [acrylonitrile butadiene styrene] recycling streams for automotive and electrical and electronic equipment.

It is the first ABS resin to obtain RecyClass technology approval and to be designated as a control material for ABS recyclability testing, following testing at Proplast under the Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for Automotive and EEE Resins.
