Slovakian dairy producer Euromilk is extending its partnership with SIG through the deployment of a SIG Slimline 12 Aseptic filling machine.

The equipment is aimed at supporting increasing demand for the company’s range, including plain and flavoured milk, cream and plant-based drinks.

The SIG Slimline 12 Aseptic can process as many as 12,000 carton packs an hour in three pack sizes, notably 500ml, 750ml and 1,000ml, on one machine.

The switch between formats takes under 15 minutes by replacing the sleeves, adjusting the volume and entering new settings through the HMI [human-machine interface].

The line can be used with standard packaging materials as well as SIG Terra Alu-free and SIG Terra Forest-based polymers, both of which Euromilk already uses.

Euromilk managing director Tibor Balogh said: “Our partnership with SIG spans more than 25 years and has helped Euromilk to double production volumes, support continued growth and strengthen its position in the local market.

"With the SIG Slimline 12 Aseptic filling machine, we can continue to uphold our company values by combining traditional recipes and proven processes.”

SIG introduced aseptic carton packaging material without an aluminium layer in 2010, with SIG Terra Alu-free developed for plain liquid dairy products.

Euromilk also uses SIG Terra forest-based polymers.

These polymers are applied in the closure and the paperboard lamination.

They are linked to renewable forest-based sources derived from wood residues from paper production through a mass-balance system independently certified by ISCC PLUS.

SIG noted that the machine’s flexibility may also allow Euromilk to widen its product range beyond its main categories, including products such as oat milk.

SIG Czech Republic and Slovakia sales head and managing director Sarka Kaplanova said: "With the flexibility of the SIG Slimline 12 Aseptic filling line, including the ability to fill regular aseptic carton packaging material, alu-layer-free solutions and packaging materials with forest-based polymers on the same machine, Euromilk has exactly what is needed to set the pace in the Eastern European food and beverage market.”
