AI-driven sustainability platform Packgine has been introduced by gCurv to automate global packaging compliance.

The company describes the platform as the first enterprise-level system of this kind.

The platform delivers instant lifecycle analytics and automated reporting for regulations such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

It also offers AI-based recommendations aimed at cutting down costs, complying with climate objectives and addressing international packaging rules.

gCurv also highlighted that companies are encountering increased financial and operational risks amid rising regulatory pressures, including the EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

Manual tracking via spreadsheets has proven error-prone, resulting in delays and potential penalties.

Packgine now offers a unified system to address this issue, offering real-time data on carbon footprint, recyclability and s material usage through a centralised dashboard.

This approach facilitates collaboration among procurement, sustainability and compliance teams, reducing approval times for new packaging from months to days.

Packgine automates compliance tracking and report generation for EPR, PPWR and post-consumer recycled (PCR) mandates across major markets. It issues proactive alerts ahead of legal changes to provide full market coverage and reduce risk.

Users can simulate modifications to materials or suppliers to predict effects on costs, carbon footprint and compliance.

The platform's AI generates recommendations for material swaps and design improvements.

Access is provided to a curated database containing more than 25,000 packaging materials for benchmarking and data-driven decisions that are in line with financial and environmental objectives.

Packgine managing partner Kevin Kai Wong stated: "For too long, sustainability, compliance and procurement teams have operated in silos, struggling with outdated tools that can't keep pace with global regulations.

"We built Packgine to be the single source of truth that connects these functions. Our platform transforms compliance from a burdensome obligation into a strategic advantage, allowing brands to make faster, smarter, and more sustainable packaging decisions with confidence."
