The packaging format is in this case being applied to ready-to-drink and on-the-go beverages.

Lithuania-based OMG Bubble Tea has moved to Greiner Packaging’s K3 cardboard-plastic cup for its 250ml Bubble Tea range as the business broadens its retail distribution.

The packaging format, commonly used for dairy and dessert products, is in this case being applied to ready-to-drink and on-the-go beverages.

Greiner Packaging highlighted that OMG Bubble Tea's 250ml Bubble Tea products have been available across Europe since last summer and are also gaining wider distribution in the US.

As OMG Bubble Tea increased its presence in retail, it required a cup format that would fit with its existing packaging and production setup.

Work with Greiner Packaging centred on adjusting the K3 cup to the company’s operational needs.

The pack includes Greiner Packaging’s New Tear Tab, which allows the packaging to be divided into two parts: the cup and the cardboard wrap.

The polypropylene cup is designed to preserve the barrier properties needed for ready-to-drink beverages.

It is manufactured with EVOH to support product protection over the course of shelf life.

According to the information provided, the K3 cup is intended to meet the product protection and quality requirements for a ready-to-drink beverage while supporting OMG Bubble Tea’s operations in Europe and the US.

Greiner Packaging sales manager Eliška Bednaříková said: “This project shows how important flexibility is when an existing packaging concept needs to be transferred to a new cup solution.

“Together with OMG Bubble Tea, we adapted our K3 cup to their specific requirements and supported a smooth integration into their established setup.”

In July 2024, Symington’s improved its sustainability by becoming the first UK food producer to adopt Greiner Packaging’s K3 r100 product.

The company implemented the packaging in its Oatburst instant porridge brand.
