US-based plastic recycling company PureCycle has confirmed that its PureFive recycled polypropylene resin is being used in a newly launched range of licensed souvenir cups for cinemas.
It is used through a partnership between Golden Link North America and Churchill Container, in which Golden Link uses Churchill’s Run It Back cup range.
The range of cups can be manufactured with up to 100% recycled content derived from PureCycle’s PureFive resin.
The cups are being deployed for a major studio release currently showing in cinemas, bringing recycled polypropylene into the segment of licensed cinema souvenir drinkware.
PureCycle CEO Dustin Olson said: “We’re excited to see Golden Link bring moviegoers this first-of-its-kind recycled polypropylene souvenir cup for a large film release.
“It’s great that our partnership with Churchill Container is expanding to bring sustainability-minded companies applications produced with our PureFive resin.”
PureCycle stated that Golden Link is the first cinema concessions provider to roll out Churchill Container’s Run It Back product line.
Launched earlier this year, the series is intended to facilitate the use of recycled plastics in reusable and recyclable food and beverage packaging.
Golden Link president Jeff Waaland added: “We’re proud to offer the first-of-its-kind Run It Back line of cups to moviegoers and collectors who will be sure to put them on display. But, should they ever decide to retire the cup from their home collection, it’s rewarding to know they can be recycled at home or in the theatre.”
Churchill Container, based in the Kansas City region, manufactures reusable and collectible drinkware and food containers, supplying concessions products to venues such as stadiums, arenas and cinemas.
The company is a member of the Green Sports Alliance and reports that it reuses or recycles plastic waste generated in its own operations.
Golden Link provides customised concessions offerings and licensed in-theatre promotional items to cinema operators in more than 80 countries, with a focus on collectible concession products.
