US-based packaging company TemperPack has moved its Green Cell Foam manufacturing operations in the US state of Michigan from Holt to a larger site in Lansing.
The relocation is part of the expansion of its production and distribution network.
The new 135,000ft² plant provides 60% more manufacturing floor space than the company’s previous facility.
It includes new production equipment and upgraded IT infrastructure, and an increased number of shipping and receiving docks.
TemperPack CEO Peter Wells stated: “As direct-to-consumer e-commerce continues to expand in Food and Beverage, and Life Sciences, due to significant trends in ‘Food is Health’ and ‘Preventive Medicine’, TemperPack must keep pace with the demand for sustainable packaging solutions that provide exceptional unboxing experiences for our customers’ consumers - built on a digital thread for innovative end-to-end solutions that build brand and community with a personalised and sustainable experience.”
The expanded site is intended to meet rising demand for TemperPack's Green Cell Foam insulation products.
The Lansing facility is centrally positioned with direct links to key interstate routes, which will improve access for freight hauliers and distribution partners throughout the region.
The added capacity reinforces TemperPack’s efforts to develop alternatives to traditional packaging substrates.
Green Cell Foam is a plant-based insulation material that is certified compostable and is designed to deliver performance comparable to polystyrene foam.
TemperPack chief operating officer Troy Hagenbuch added: “As we continue to grow and uphold our commitment to sustainability, expanding our Michigan operations allows us to better meet rising customer demand for Green Cell Foam. This new facility significantly enhances our manufacturing and service capabilities, enabling us to deliver greater efficiency, speed and reliability to our customers.”
Founded in 2015, TemperPack specialises in packaging solutions based on materials science, packaging design and process engineering.
The company's products have been used to protect more than 200 million consignments globally.
