Tetra Pak has expanded its packaging material production plant in Binh Duong, Vietnam, to produce packaging material used in aseptic cartons.

Construction was formally initiated in August 2024, and the expanded facility commenced operations in July 2025. The project involved an investment of €97m.

The investment was aimed at meeting rising demand for beverage cartons in both domestic and regional markets. It is intended to support food and beverage producers in Vietnam and other markets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region including Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

Location

Tetra Pak’s packaging factory in Binh Duong is located in the VSIP II-A Industrial Park in the Vinh Tan Ward of Binh Duong Province in Vietnam.

Tetra Pak Binh Duong manufacturing facility expansion details

The Tetra Pak Binh Duong manufacturing facility expansion project expanded the factory by nearly 6,000m², adding a new production line, a production building, a finished goods warehouse and other auxiliary areas.

The new production line brings additional capacity for aseptic carton packaging. It increased the production capacity of the facility from 12 billion to 30 billion packages per year.

The facility uses AI-supported quality checks and ongoing efficiency measures aimed at lowering energy use, waste and water consumption.

Product details

Tetra Pak aseptic beverage cartons are made from renewable materials, with paperboard sourced from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources. The cartons are also recyclable where collection and sorting infrastructure exists.

The expansion enabled the Binh Duong manufacturing facility to manufacture 15 additional packaging formats of the company’s Tetra Prisma® Aseptic, Tetra Wedge® Aseptic and Tetra Brik® Aseptic packages in various shapes and sizes.

These new additions expanded the company’s packaging portfolio to more than 26 formats, giving customers increased flexibility and a broader range of innovative solutions to address varied consumer requirements.

With these additional packaging formats and expanded production capacity in Binh Duong, food and beverage manufacturers now have access to a broader selection of locally supplied Tetra Pak carton packs. They can also take advantage of Tetra Pak’s full end-to-end proposition spanning packaging, processing, services and its automation portfolio.

Contractors involved

TTCL Vietnam was appointed by Tetra Pak to provide design, procurement management and project management services for the expansion project.

In May 2024, SOL E&C was appointed as the main contractor responsible for construction and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for the project.

SOL E&C partnered with Sweden-based design consultancy AFRY for MEP design and Centerlöf & Holmberg for structural and architectural design of the expansion project.

Turner & Townsend served as the project management consultant, while Minh Phuc JSC supplied anti-corrosion protection materials for the project.
