The adoption of Reactive Recycling by Nexam customers is a shift from initial trials to long-term, commercial-scale operations.

The technology offers benefits in packaging and industrial applications, including the production of flexible packaging films, rigid containers and durable industrial components with high recycled content.

For the flexible packaging and film sector, Reactive Recycling ensures stable production with cost-effective raw materials, without compromising on quality.

In the realm of rigid packaging, the technology enhances the melt strength and toughness of recycled polypropylene (rPP), high-density polyethylene (rHDPE), and polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), facilitating the manufacture of bottles and containers with significantly higher recycled content.

It also improves the durability and impact resistance of industrial components made from recycled plastics, enabling them to replace virgin materials in broader applications.

Nexam Chemical CEO Ronnie Törnqvist stated: “When we announce a major customer, it is because we know the business has the potential to scale and last. These run-rate numbers confirm that Reactive Recycling is not just a concept, but a proven solution delivering real value to customers who need stronger, more reliable recycled plastics at scale – often also generating considerable savings.”

The initial growth driven by these two accounts is noteworthy, as it represents flose to 10% of Nexam’s total sales.

In June 2025, Nexam Chemical announced that an undisclosed customer for its Reactive Recycling technology had commenced full commercial production.
