Plastipak Packaging is planning to add two manufacturing lines to its Birmingham area facility in Jefferson County, Alabama, US, with an investment of $10.4m.
The company’s Birmingham facility, which is located at JeffMet McCalla industrial park, manufactures plastic bottles for the beverage industry.

For the expansion project, the Jefferson County Commission has approved statutory abatements valued at around $427,258 for a period of ten years.
Jefferson County commissioner David Carrington said: “This business expansion project brings additional investment and jobs to Western Jefferson County.”
Plastipak currently employs 117 people at its Birmingham facility, and the expansion will create a minimum of five jobs.
Jefferson County Economic and Industrial Development Authority executive director Ted vonCannon said: “Plastipak is one of the oldest tenants in JeffMet McCalla and has been a vital component of our recruitment efforts to the park.

Since its operation in 2003, Plastipak expanded the bottle manufacturing plant several times.
With 45 sites in the US, South America and Europe, Plastipak Holdings produces rigid plastic containers for food, beverages, and consumer products.
Last year, US-based Plastipak Holdings completed the acquisition of APPE, which has been rebranded as Plastipak Packaging.
