Rigid films and foils specialist Bilcare Research is investing in the expansion of its manufacturing site in Staufen, Germany.

The proposed expansion forms a part of the company’s strategy to cater to the customer demand for its products.

Work under the €15m expansion includes the installation of a extrusion-line and stenter-line at the facility.

The company will purchase two main aggregates from SML Maschinengesellschaft of Lenzing, Austria, and Brückner Maschinenbau of Siegsdorf, Germany.

"We are already planning for Q1-2016 with the new capacity."

Expected to create 15 new jobs, the project will also see the construction of a new stenter-hall and supporting infrastructure.

Bilcare Research Speciality Films Solutions global business unit head and managing director Thomas Piwowarsky said: "We are already planning for Q1-2016 with the new capacity and are looking forward to a further development of our business together with our customers and partners."

The production was moved from the Weißandt-Gölzau facility that was closed earlier this year, putting 57 jobs at risk.
