Sigma Plastics Group member Reliance Packaging is planning to expand its operations in Moore County, North Carolina, US.

The expansion is expected to create 48 new jobs over the next three years.

Commenting on the expansion, Reliance Packaging president and COO Satish Sharma said: "Reliance Packaging and the Sigma Plastics Group’s investment in purchasing additional equipment and developing new products will allow us to create new jobs for Moore County and North Carolina.

"We sincerely appreciate the support we have received from local and state government."

The jobs will include machine operators and maintenance technicians, with the average annual payroll associated with these jobs to exceed $1.5m.

Upon completion of the expansion, the company will relocate its manufacturing operation to North Carolina.

The company also plans to invest approximately $3.5m in the town of Aberdeen.

Headquartered in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Reliance Packaging manufactures and supplies printed bags and rollstock for a wide range of applications and markets. It currently has 12 employees in Aberdeen.
