Glass container manufacturer Ardagh Group has designed and produced a bottle for Elyx vodka as part of its long-term partnership with Swedish brand The Absolut Company.
Ardagh’s Nordic team has worked collaboratively with UK-based design agency Stranger & Stranger to design the bottle by presenting its initial concepts.
Ardagh Group Glass Nordic division development manager Fredrik Kallqvist noted that the new bottle design has pushed the boundaries of industrial glass production.
The company designed all sizes of the bottle at Absolut’s facility in Limmared, Sweden. The copper bottle is made from more than 40% recycled glass.
Kallqvist added: “The bottle’s square cross-section and areas combining heavy patterns with smooth sections meant we had to prepare for different cooling behaviours in different parts of the bottle.
“Also, the large labels in the new design required the bottle to be produced with demanding geometrical precision to achieve the perfect labelling platform.”
Absolut Elyx is a luxury, single-estate vodka brand made using winter wheat and a vintage copper column still from 1921.
Featuring 42.3% alcohol by volume (ABV), the luxury vodka brand used thousands of copper packets by removing unwanted compounds to produce the final product.
The new bottle is currently available in more than 70 markets globally this year.
As part of their partnership established in 2016, Ardagh designed and produced a range of limited edition bottles for Absolut Facet vodka.
The company manufactured a total of two and a half million bottles for the brand at its plant in Limmared, Sweden.
