DS Smith unveils first hybrid Customer Innovation Hub in Lisbon

The company plans to open hybrid Customer Innovation Hubs across all its regions by the end of 2023.

UK-based sustainable packaging company DS Smith has unveiled its first hybrid Customer Innovation Hub in Lisbon, Portugal.

The new centre is equipped with audio-visual technology including pan-zoom-tilt (PTZ) cameras for producing comprehensive e-commerce unboxing experiences and presentations, as well as an LED wall to support online sessions and augmented reality capabilities.

This new facility will enable DS Smith to host innovation and design sessions for customers in face-to-face, online and hybrid settings.

Customers across the Iberian region will be provided with the opportunity to connect in person with the company while international representatives can collaborate remotely.

DS Smith Packaging Sales, Marketing & Innovation director Marc Chiron said: “The move towards digitalisation, that accelerated during the pandemic, has given rise to ‘fusion consumers’ who demand agility and excellence in both the physical and online shopping environments.

“This trend also applies to the business world, where companies must adapt to this new hybrid context to meet customers’ needs, matching their experience as consumers.

The cutting-edge equipment allows us to continue to grow our digital offer and bolster our strategic alliances, further positioning us as a leading supplier in sustainable corrugated packaging.”

The new Customer Innovation Hub is in line with DS Smith’s commitment to enabling customers to collaborate with its experts.

In addition to the new facility, the company also has Impact Centres that provide customers with online 360° ‘walk through’ for new customer opportunities and its innovation and creativity hub PackRight Centres.

Last month, DS Smith launched Circular Design Metrics, a tool to help measure the environmental impact of its solutions.
