The foil is directly sealed onto the body of the can and replaces the conventionally used ring-pull opening mechanism.

This peelable seal is expected to minimise up to 20% of the overall carbon footprint produced per can.

The Ecopeel solution is easy to open and has a 45-degree sealing surface, which means less force is required to open the can.

The foil on Eviosys’ food can is delivered in a pre-sealed format, using ‘Direct Heat Seal’ technology, to customers. This helps in reducing packaging complexity, as customers and brands can directly fill and seam the can.

Using this pre-sealed foil also ensures a cleaner, safer, and faster filling process (by up to five times) while reducing energy consumption.

Eviosys CEO Tomas Lopez said: “At our core, we are committed to transforming the packaging sector through innovation to enable a truly circular economy.

“With Ecopeel we can offer our customers this transformed packaging experience, strengthening their sustainability and inclusivity credentials, expediting their internal processes and enhancing their brand visibility.”

Ecopeel’s prints and logos can be customised as per the requirements of individual brands and companies.

Currently, the company is also engaging with its long-standing customers, including Jealsa and Friscos, to launch and offer its Ecopeel solution for a wider range of businesses such as those in the olives, pate and pet food industries.

Jealsa CEO Jesus Alsonso said: “It is very important to us to work with partners who are innovators and can offer us more sustainable choices throughout our supply chain – including our packaging.

“Ecopeel sets a new standard for inclusive, accessible, sustainable, and innovative food packaging, and allows consumers to enjoy all of our high-quality products with ease.”
