Chemical and consumer goods company Henkel has expanded its sustainable EPIX technology offering by extending to Europe.
Initially launched in the US, Henkel Adhesive Technologies’ new product technology platform offers paper as an alternative to single-use materials.
EPIX, which includes a portfolio of materials and chemistries, expands the functionality of paper.
It helps add extra properties like barrier protection against water, grease intrusion, thermal insulation and impact resistance to paper products.
These properties help improve the material’s experience for use as convenient alternative to plastic in disposable, on-the-go products such as paper straws, paper cups and food trays.
Additionally, it enhances experience in e-commerce packaging and paper mailers to deliver flexible, form-fitting and lower profile packaging options.
Henkel packaging adhesive head Tilo Quink said: “We are committed to advancing innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that contribute to a circular economy, and we see the opportunity to make a true impact in the growing markets of eCommerce deliveries and convenience packaging.
“We understand consumers’ desire for functional paper products that are a reliable alternative to traditional materials and are looking forward to introducing this to the European market.”
EPIX mailers are certified as recyclable by How2Recycle in the US and OPRL in the UK.
Last month, Henkel advanced its sustainable packaging solutions with the re-launch of three Beauty Care portfolio including Nature Box, Gliss Kur and Syoss.
