European paperboard producer Metsä Board has secured an A- rating in its latest Circulytics circular economy assessment.
Circulytics, which is a circular economy measurement tool launched by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, comprehensively measured how Metsä achieved circularity across its operations.
Metsä said that it achieved the highest score within the ‘Enablers’ category, which indicates a company’s commitment to switch to a circular business model.
This category comprises circular economy contributing factors such as strategy and planning, innovation, people and skills and operations, and external engagement attributes
Comparatively, the company scored B in the assessment conducted last year.
Metsä’s product safety and sustainability director Anne Uusitalo said: “It is great to see that our continuous work to develop our operations in line with circular economy principles is recognised by external third parties.”
