Mondi has introduced a fully recyclable brown kraftliner pack with white digital printing for glass manufacturer Riedel Glas, created for the launch of the All American Bourbon glass range.

According to Mondi, Riedel Glas was seeking packaging that matched the product’s character while signalling its “premium” status at the point of sale.

The packaging company produced a format based on brown kraftliner with white digital printing to combine a natural look with clear visibility.

At its Ebersdorf site in Germany, digital printing has recently been expanded to include white ink.

This enables high-opacity white features to remain visible on brown kraftliner, improving contrast and readability.

Ink is applied in very small droplets directly onto the surface, allowing defined edges and detailed print.

Mondi said the data-to-print process also enables variable designs and serialised QR codes to be created within a single print run, assisting with traceability, automation and communication across the supply chain.

Last month, Mondi and Polish supermarket chain Biedronka launched Recyklobox, a corrugated board container for collecting returnable packaging under the national deposit system.

The container was aimed at retail settings that require adaptable and quick-to-install collection options.

It is made from five-layer corrugated board and includes a lower collection section, a lid designed for bottle insertion, and a fitting for scanner installation.
