Thorpe Design and Technologies, a provider of returnable packaging solutions based in North Wales, is seeking planning permission for a new industrial building in Rhyl, with the intention of expanding its business operations.

The move is expected to generate new employment opportunities in the region.

Thorpe Design and Technologies has submitted an application to Denbighshire County Council for the construction of the facility, which would enhance its welding capacity on-site at Unit B, Cefndy Road Employment Park.

The site is currently utilised for various processes, including welding, assembly, steelwork, mouldings, and office activities.

The planning application is set to be reviewed at a meeting of the council’s planning committee at its Ruthin County Hall headquarters.

Established in 2004, Thorpe Design and Technologies produces in-house mouldings using different densities of polyurethane..

In April last year, a new set of recycling rules, known as the Workplace Recycling Regulations, was introduced in Wales to help reduce waste and boost recycling efforts.

The new regulation is aimed at minimising the volume of waste directed towards incineration and landfill sites. The legislation requires all domestic businesses, charities, and public sector organisations to correctly sort their waste for recycling.
