UPM Raflatac has expanded its product range in the food-safe labelling sector by launching four new products, namely Synthermal Clear Plus, Antique Food-FSC, Fleur de Coton Food-FSC and Multiprint Food-FSC, destined for the European market.
The company expects that the expanded food labelling portfolio will offer a wider range of material options for brand owners and packaging designers.
UPM Raflatac EMEIA segment manager Jouni Iiskola said: “Food safety is the most important attribute of all the products included in our wide range of materials for food labelling applications.
“We hear the industry demand for more product options to help with brand recognition and differentiation, and these four new products are just the start.
“We will continue to expand our range to meet the demands of the industry, with a focus on product safety, anticipating regulatory changes, and sustainability in particular.”
Synthermal Clear Plus is a high-clarity direct thermal film that is designed to offer improved product visibility for a no-label look on food packaging.
The product does not contain Bisphenol A (BPA) and Bisphenol S (BPS). These properties are in line with European Union legislation that requires thermal paper sold in Europe to be BPA-free from January 2020.
Synthermal Clear Plus offers convertibility and flexibility for process improvements at the printer.
UPM Raflatac has developed the remaining three products, which are textured and tactile paper face materials, in order to meet consumers’ increasing demand for sustainable preferences.
Antique Food-FSC has a finely textured finish, while Fleur de Coton Food-FSC and Multiprint Food-FSC respectively offer a natural finish and a satin finish.
