Veritiv Operating Company, a provider of specialty packaging solutions, has acquired Oregon, US-based Subotnick Packaging.

Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.

Subotnick is a distributor of packaging products and equipment.

It caters to a range of sectors including building materials, food, e-commerce and transportation, providing both stock and custom packaging offerings.

Established in 1925, the family owned business is said to have “deep roots” across the Pacific Northwest.

Veritiv stated that Subotnick’s focus on corrugated, strapping, tape, stretch film, packaging equipment, and parts and service aligns closely with its own operations.

Subotnick president David Berlant said: “Joining Veritiv represents an exciting milestone for Subotnick, allowing us to extend our impact through Veritiv’s vast network in packaging distribution, automation, design and fulfilment.

Veritiv CEO Sal Abbate added: “This acquisition strengthens Veritiv’s core packaging platform in the strategically important Pacific Northwest region.

“Subotnick’s offerings are highly complementary to our existing capabilities and support our strategy to grow our core packaging platform.”

McDermott Will & Schulte offered legal advice to Veritiv for the deal.

Based in Atlanta, Veritiv provides packaging solutions, as well as JanSan, hygiene, print and publishing products and services. It has distribution centres in the US and Mexico, supported by additional global resources and personnel.

Earlier this month, the company acquired the packaging distribution division of S Walter Packaging, a company founded in 1904 that offers custom packaging solutions to the retail, hospitality, food and beverage, and fashion industries.

S Walter employs 110 people and operates facilities in Trevose and Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania.
