Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas has announced the launch of a new range of high-barrier peelable lidding films that seal directly onto APET trays.
The company says that the new Amcor N-Gage range is lighter compared to existing films and cuts down total pack weight by around 10%. It will also enable the APET tray and lid to be completely recycled, once the recycling stream is in place.

According to a recent study published by Eco-Emballages and Adelphe, the development of a mono-material PET tray and a compatible lidding film which can be sealed to the tray would be the optimum packaging solution for trays and lids for sliced cured meat. The study also reports on key projects with leading food manufacturers designed to improve the recyclability of packaging that is plastic-based.
Amcor will exhibit its new range at the Interpack Innovation Parc, which will take place from 7 to 14 May in Düsseldorf, Germany.
