US-based Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) is planning to invest in a new 18-unit Speedmaster XL 106 press from Heidelberg, which will be installed at the company’s facility in East Kilbride, Scotland, UK.

The press will be installed by next month and fully commissioned by mid-2017.

Featuring an in-line cold foiling unit with indexing, the new Heidelberg XL will allow designers and brand owners to create high-definition special effects.

The press will also offer 11 printing units, three coating units and four drying units, and is capable of operating at 18,000sph to meet requirements for premium branded packaging.

Heidelberg XL’s perfector section enables in-line reverse side printing for designs or promotions, which complements a wide variety of effects on packaging exteriors.
