Indian plastic processing company Supreme Industries will open a PVC pipe and packaging facility in Kharagpur, West Bengal.
The move is part of the company’s strategy to increase capital spending by one-third to INR2bn ($33.27m). It plans to use the majority of the capital spending on the new facility.
The facility is scheduled to become operational by the second half of 2015.
A Supreme Industries spokesperson told Plastic News: “The forthcoming Bengal plant is the 24th unit of Supreme Industries, which would initially produce 25,000t plus PVC pipe and fittings and 10,000t of protective packaging. The capacity would be raised over a period of time depending upon the market demand.”
The company also plans to expand its protective packaging capacity at Hosur and Malanpur and intends to install energy efficient injection moulding equipment at its facilities in Jalgaon and Malanpur.
Supreme Industries manufactures and sells plastic products primarily in India and also offers a range of customised packaging solutions. It recently reported a net turnover of INR11.5bn ($187.15m), registering a 9% growth from the previous year.
