It is set to comply with Federal Trade Commission ‘Green Guides’ and uses nationally accurate recyclability data.

Companies including ConAgra Foods, Costco Wholesale, Microsoft, REI and Seventh Generation have agreed to implement the label on select packaging from the beginning of 2012.

The system is expected to receive support from state and local governments addressing recycling challenges.
